Boost Your Serotonin Levels With Fostered Kittens

Sister Lilly Farrar did just that during her Fall 2020 semester in Blacksburg. Read more about it below.

This semester was definitely a challenge for most of us.

Being a college student during a pandemic is different sometimes leaves me feeling defeated or hopeless. As our world turned upside down, sadly, many’s mental health did as well. Mental health is a priority in my life, as well as many others.

When my roommate, Kaley,  and I were facing a typical Sunday ~funk~, we decided to make the spontaneous decision to foster a kitten for a dose of serotonin. We contacted several shelters and ended up adopting not one but two amazing kittens named Mo and Tobi.

These cats allowed us to breathe, created a distraction, and most importantly, brought us joy. It was also a learning experience to have two new goobers running around our apartment, making things messy/stinky, and having accidents. Fostering kittens not only helped us, but we had the chance to help them reach their fullest potential and get adopted together successfully.
