Cate's 2022 Winter Basic Must-Haves

Sister Cate Casparius shares her favorite winter jackets, accessories, and more below for the 2022 season.

If I could live in my oversized denim shorts and cropped white Brandy Melville tank top year round, trust me, I would. But sadly, I’d freeze to death so I’m officially trading in my jean shorts for long pants and crop tops for puffers and sweaters.

First up, JACKETS!!!!!

You could wear the same jeans and basic tshirt every day of the winter and somehow still be the best dressed on the street. How?

Two words, A JACKET.

For me, my winter closet is filled with basic tees, long sleeves, and plain pants but I elevate these basics every day with unique coats and outerwear. It’s so easy to be stylish during the winter and I think that’s what makes winter fashion so fun.

On colder days you’ll definitely need to wear an extra layer on top of this jacket but trust me when I say you NEED this jacket. My mom and I have a similar one from 310 Rosemont and I think we actually wear this jacket too much.

The MEGA PUFF VEST from Aritzia

They have this style in cognac (pictured), black, dusky green, dune blue, and matte pearl. This specific vest is $198 which is DEFINITELY pricey for a vest. Don’t worry, I found a similar one at Abercrombie on sale for $50.

They have this style in beige (pictured), black, green, and brown for $50. This sweater pairs perfectly with most jackets or you can just rock it alone. Everyone needs a simple turtle neck in their closet.

Okay, these are pricey BUT they’re worth it. My best friend tried these on in store and they fit her perfectly. All of the colors are SO cute and the pants themselves are so unique, trendy, and very well made. I highly recommend investing in a pair of these.

Beyond the Studio Jogger from Lululemon - $118

I have these and they’re the perfect everyday pant. You can wear them to workout, lounge around the house, or even dress them up a bit for a day of shopping or brunch.

Luna Faux Leather Flare Jeans from Edikted - $89

Ok honestly, just give in and hop on the Edikted bandwagon. These pants have not failed a single person yet. They’re extremely flattering on ALL sizes and they’re SO comfortable. Not to mention they’re so cute and so on trend right now - I’ve also heard great things about Abercrombie’s black leather pants.
